Evelyn Fanelli joined the Women’s Royal Naval Service at 17 years old, but left shortly after when she married.
Following the breakdown of her marriage she moved to America having met her second husband who worked in the American Department of Defence. The family were posted to Japan.
Moving back to the UK in 1997, Evelyn successfully built her career in the financial services industry until family circumstances forced her to leave her job and move in with her son and his wife to provide full time care for her grandchild.
Due to a change in circumstances Evelyn has recently relocated to the North East, to be closer to her daughter. It was at this point that the 62-year-old, now living in Newton Aycliffe, was told about Finchale Group via her local Job Centre.
Case Manager Angela Kelly has worked with her since – helping her to access financial support to ease the deficit between her rent and the benefits she was receiving, as well as supporting Evelyn to regain her confidence to positively move forward in her life.
In fact she’s now working as a part time Customer Service Colleague, and hopes to use her experience to gain full time employment having restored her confidence.
