On Monday morning, we were devastated to discover that our minibus had been stolen from the car park outside our office.
The minibus is a lifeline for many of the vulnerable people that we support and it’s loss is far more than financial.
A familiar sight across Durham, our bus was regularly out and about providing vital transport and helping veterans to connect with others. Without the bus, we are now unable to provide this service and this will impact upon some of the most isolated and lonely people in the area who can’t drive or afford a bus fare. For many of these individuals and the young people that we support, the minibus was their only link to the outside world, either bringing them in to Finchale or taking them out on an excursion.
Vikkie Wilkinson, Development Executive said, “As a charity, Finchale is entirely reliant on funding and the goodwill of donors. Our funds need to go further than ever to provide the support that we know is needed so much. Although the bus was insured, we will find it very difficult to buy a replacement. If anyone has seen our bus or would like to volunteer to raise funds, please get in touch.”
